Catch the Fire Toronto is a multicultural and multi-campus cell church. We began as a church in 1987 meeting in the home of John Arnott’s mother near the Airport, hence the word Airport in the original name of Toronto Airport Vineyard Christian Fellowshp. The first public meetings were in 1988 at the Bloorlea Public School in mid-Etobicoke.In 1994 the church had an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and what the world knows as the Toronto Blessing began. Our little church by the airport now attracted world-wide attention and we grew.In 1995 we moved to the 272 Attwell location and now years later, somewhere between 3 and 4 million people have come through our doors to experience the blessing of God. Catch the Fire Toronto started with one cell led by John and Carol Arnott, our Founding Pastors. Cells have continued to be our primary vehicle for pastoring people and raising up leaders. We have about 200 cells. 2004 saw us begin our campus strategy. Groups of cells in a given area gather together to form a campus. The first campus was in Ajax. Later that year, Central began downtown for young adults. Today we have ten campuses with new ones getting ready to roll out in Stouffville and a young adult campus in Newmarket this autumn. Our goal is to launch five new campuses in 2010 and to see 200 campuses in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) by the year 2025.A campus is simply a part of our church that happens to meet in a different area of the city. We are one church that meets in different venues and at different times. Each campus will have a pastoral team that gives leadership. Some pastors are paid to work full or part-time and some on our leadership team have other jobs and volunteer their time. While each campus has a pastor, all the pastors serve together under the leadership of Steve and Sandra Long, our Senior Pastors. Campuses have the same DNA and often share the same sermons. We watch the same video announcements, have pastors from the other campuses come and speak, and sometimes watch the meetings from Catch the Fire Toronto - Airport on-line.Several times a year, all the ministry workers from all the campuses gather together. The church also gathers for an annual Labour Day Picnic, for Family Camp, Kids camp, Senior and Junior High Camps as well as conferences, encounters and other special events. Each campus is slightly different yet we are very much the same. Campuses range in size, demographics, geography and start time. But, we are one church called Catch the Fire Toronto.Stayed tuned as we grow!!
